What Are You Afraid Of?

"What are you afraid of?" This was the question asked of approximately 150 women one weekend at an amazing women's ministry conference I attended in New England. What is keeping you confined within the current borders of your everyday life, that you fear you cannot overcome? Depression? Abuse? Unforgiveness? Finances? Your need for comfort and security? In Christ, there should be no fear of any kind that holds you back from fulfilling your destiny (1 John 4:18). The limits are off!

As I watched the powerful ministry unfolding at the altar, what amazed me most was the extent of the damage that the enemy has done. There are few people on earth who have not been wounded by the enemy in some way. The devil is the master of deception, and pulls people as far away from God as possible. Nearly  every woman present responded to the call for healing prayer, yet nearly every woman also responded to a subsequent call for a renewed commitment to serving God, wherever He might lead.

I was profoundly moved by the depth of healing God released last weekend to those who came to Him. I saw women receive freedom from sexual sins, depression, shame, inadequacy, and fear. His desire is for us, and He does not withhold His love from us. Many were set free, and all were challenged again to take the good news of the Gospel beyond the church walls and into every nation.

A Spiritual Adjustment

In the midst of all this, the Lord gave me a funny but true analogy, something that I believe is easy to understand and would make sense to those inside or outside of the church. He said, "I am Doctor Jesus, your divine Chiropractor!" We know Him, of course, as Healer, but in a flash He showed me the thousands of people who have lately been running to chiropractors for adjustments and to yoga classes for peace. "My people are out of alignment and are seeking peace in the wrong places," He said; "You have aligned yourselves for too long with FEAR." He wants to be the one to make spiritual adjustments and to bring peace. And just as we return for adjustments with these natural chiropractors, His desire is that we return constantly to HIM, so that He can keep us in a place of heath and peace: body, soul and spirit (3 John 1:2).

A popular speaker and prophet has said recently that this is a time of going deeper with the Lord. As we allow Him to bring healing at a deeper level for us, we will see His "adjustments" bring us a greater liberty as well. I believe this is exactly what He is doing right now, and I praise Him for the healing and the liberty that occurred this weekend in our region. Let's press on to reach every one in our path with the life-changing, fear-breaking love of the Lord!
